Cast - Flavor Flav
Flavor
Flav was born William Drayton on March 16, 1959. He was rapping
under the alias MC DJ Flavor when he first met Carlton Ridenhour,
who under the name Chuck D formed Public Enemy in 1982. The group
released their debut LP "Yo! Bum Rush the Show" in
1987 and the group emerged as one of the most prominent acts
in hip-hop music, if not all contemporary music, focusing their
lyrics on socially conscious and politically charged rhymes with
reason which created a Public Enemy explosion during the decade.
Referred to as "the comedic counterpoint to Chuck's authoritarian
presence", Flavor Flav is known to have "essentially
invented the role of the rap Hypeman", he pioneered his
absurdist comedy with timeless delivery which was later borrowed
by everyone from Busta Rhymes to Ol' Dirty Bastard. His outlandish
persona decorated with his gold teeth, clownish sunglasses, and
ubiquitous clock dangling from around his neck, Flavor also became
PE's visual focus, taking lead vocal duties with Chuck and commanding
much presence on the center stage.
