Shane Woodson was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. He is a lateral descendent of film director D. W. Griffith. In 1993, Shane made his onscreen acting debut when he starred in the made for TV film "The Congress of Wonders." The film was directed by Academy-award winning director Paul Wagner. The next five years, 1994-1998, Shane performed on-stage in over 20 stage productions, often receiving rave reviews. In 1998 Shane directed the world premiere of the stage production of "The Dodge." The show received a Pulitzer Prize nomination. In the late summer of 1999, Shane relocated to Los Angeles, CA. In 2001, him and business partner Christy Oldham form Mercury Rising Films. Their first project, which Shane directed, "Joseph & ClaireBell", screened at the 2002 California Independent Film Festival. As an actor Shane has starred or co-starred in over 15 motion pictures. Shane co-starred with Vanessa Williams and Cedric the Entertainer, when he played the role of "Angus" in the 20th Century Fox comedy "Johnson Family Vacation." He co-starred in the independent thriller "Strange Fruit", starred in the action feature "Nine Days to Nowhere", and has a recurring role on the NBC soap "Passions." Shane has supporting roles in three upcoming features: "Crossing Paths" with Minnie Driver, "Zodiac" with Robert Downey Jr., and "Resident Evil: Extinction" with Milla Jovovich.

Mercury Rising Films plans on shooting several projects in the near future. The dark comedy "The Truth About men", and "Siler's Woods", a thriller.

Shane has spent the last three years Writing, Producing, and Directing "Cain and Abel"< his first feature film, which in March of 2006 won the "AUDIENCE, BEST FEATURE AWARD" at the Other Venice Film Festival.
